Great fried chicken. Loved the sandwich & Oreo tea. Ready fast & honestly worth the drive to get there.
I've done DoorDash deliveries but had never tried the food here because I am not into bubble tea. (Watch the documentary on bubble tea, it's shocking) I finally went in because I kept seeing signs for, "chicken Butt". Now that sounds like a good time ! So I went in with the added joy of discovering that they have fried oysters! Such a random allotment of foods but maybe good? It's all or nothing. I got three tenders and 5 fried oysters. Firstly, the fried oysters are surprisingly good. They look really basic but they are dense and juicy. I'll be back because I love fried oysters and this place is quick! I also got three tenders. Oh the tenders are huge! Perfect sizes! Thick flavorful and juicy. Mine were fresh right out of the deep fryer. I am tearing up while writing this. It was that good. Big fat juicy hot tenders. There's little to no seasoning but I dipped them in the soy sauce they gave me. Chicken Butt
Very solid place for wings in the Columbia area. The chicken was filling and delicious, especially when paired with the bubble tea! The service was a little slow, hence 4 starts but the everything by else gives it 5 stars in my book. The restaurant itself is clean and has a cool aesthetic. Would recommend just not in a hurry!
My wife and I visited Kokee to fix a chicken craving we were having and wanted something new. We noticed Korean fried chicken and HAD to stop by. When you walk in it is very bright, CLEAN and welcoming! The menu is easy to see and navigate. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and even made a nice boba suggestion for my tea! I got Georgia on my Mind tea with peach pop boba which was so delicious!! My wife ordered the Green Grape tea with strawberry pop boba and that is another awesome choice! We decided to order two 10 count chicken and got the Hot wings and honey Soy garlic wings!!The chicken was larger than I hoped for and a little gummy, but still good. They were Fried hard, crispy, juicy and packed with flavor!! This is a good try if in the Columbia area.
Overall Experience, 4/5: had a good experience and would definitely come back. The combination of offerings is interesting, but it's worth trying. Food/Drink: 3.95/5: The bubble tea is a highlight. I'm a big fan of boba, and while many places have been disappointing lately, Kokee Tea always delivers. Their unique drinks are really delicious. The sandwich was also tasty--I especially liked the coleslaw, and the spice level was just right. The only thing that disappointing me was the macaroon, I got the cookies and cream, and it did not taste that great... Pricing, 4/5: The combo pricing was reasonable. We got a drink, sandwich, and fries for about $18. I would mention that the macaroon is a little pricey. Service, 4.5/5: The service was great. Everyone was super friendly, and the food came out quickly after we ordered. They prepare everything fresh. Aesthetic/Atmosphere, 3.5/5: Kokee Tea is a cute boba shop. They always have stuffed animals and lots of school supplies for sale, adding to the charm.
Kokkee kitchen was an excellent experience, the cashier was very tentative and kind. The staff in the kitchen were working very hard while the restaurant was lively on Saturday around 7 pm. We got the Spicy Yangnyeom wings, Honey Soy Garlic wings ,and the Chicken Butt Sandwich combo. We got our food in about 15 minutes after we ordered! We got both meals for roughly 30 bucks but 100% worth it. Super filling! FYI: No Bathroom Spicy Yangnyeom Wings: These wings were absolutely a hit. The wings were coated well with the Yangnyeom sauce. It had a sweet honey like taste, slight kick of heat, an assortment of seasoning. The chicken skin was crunchy and the inside was packed with flavor and juice. This was my favorite of the three. Honey Soy Garlic Wings: The wings were great, it was a dry rub that didn't have too much of one flavor and was a great mix of the honey, soy, and garlic. The skin was cooked perfectly by not being too oily, had a good crunch, and was super moist on the inside. Chicken Butt Sandwich: My girlfriend said this "Is the best fried chicken sandwich l ever had" the chicken was both crispy and juice. The bun was toasted and fluffy. The house slaw and pickle added freshness and balance to the hearty chicken. The waffle fries were incredible, they were crispy, well seasoned, and had good thickness. She'll be coming back for this sandwich.
Overall: Small shop with bubble tea, macaroons and desserts, and fried chicken and French fries. Only a couple of tables and one single stall restroom. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. We dropped in on a Friday night and ordered two hot chicken sandwiches, garlic soy chicken tenders, and fries. It took 30 minutes for our food to come out, which felt long since the place was pretty empty and it's set up like a fast casual place. The chicken was thick and juicy with a nice crunchy fry on it. My son was obsessed with the soy garlic sauce and the fries were pretty good. To me the prices felt a little high and the wait a little long for what the food and ambiance was. I always wish for at least one veggie on the menu, which there wasn't but I understand for the type of restaurant it is. There were no high chairs for kids.
Summary: Kokee Chicken (Butt) is located within the Kokee tea shop and offers a smallish menu of fried chicken options with sides. They also have a huge selection of Milk Tea, but my review is specifically on the food since I didn't get any of their speciality drinks. The food is good. It's definitely one of the better spicy chicken sandwich offerings in the area. I would check it out if you haven't been. Details: Starting with the location - it's definitely more of a milk tea shop first. Lots of foot traffic primarily ordering milk teas. The seating is pretty limited and not really "sit down and eat" vibes. I think there's probably like 6-7 tables total with 2 chairs at each. It's fine for a quick bite. Speaking of quick though, the food was not quick to come out. We ordered 2 chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, and a side of waffle fries and it took probably close to 20-30 minutes to get our food. The food - it was good! The waffle fries reminds me a bit of a Chick-Fil-A waffle mixed with Arby's (in a good way). The flavor profile itself, I felt like certain things were a hint too sweet or a hint too salty. All in all, I thought everything was delicious and well-cooked. I can probably go without the chicken tenders next time. As far as menu items go, they also have a ton of options for ordering wings. I thought the chicken sandwich was definitely the best thing we ordered. Great balance on flavors and a good kick with spice. Service Staff was friendly, but not much interaction. As mentioned earlier, it's more of a milk tea spot, so once you order your food, it's pretty much hands off from the staff at that point. Not a negative, just set your expectation for bussing your own tables. Conclusion It was a good spot and I'd definitely recommend. Food took a little longer than expected to get. The dining area is a bit limited, but does the job for less busy days.
